There are many symptoms you may be experiencing if you have a food allergy or intolerance.  These may include:

  • headaches
  • Stomach cramps, wind, bloating, diarrhoea, constipation
  • Eczema or asthma
  • Runny nose, sinus problems
  • Low energy, sluggishness

Catherine Jeans works with reputable laboratories across the world, to provide reliable and comprehensive food allergy and intolerance testing to suit your individual needs.   All samples for allergy testing undergo stringent and highly controlled laboratory analysis.

There are a number of different options available to you in terms of testing, ranging from a single allergen to the most comprehensive food allergy and intolerance test.   Catherine advises that if you suspect you have a food allergy or intolerance, finding out which you have is a key first step, as food intolerances can be rectified and those foods reintroduced.  If you have an allergy, those foods or allergens need to be avoided for life.

If you suspect you may have an intolerance to gluten and wheat, you may wish to consider our new range of cutting edge gluten testing.  Find out more information here.

How to arrange a food allergy test?

If you suspect you may have an allergy or food intolerance, first you will need to discuss with Catherine the most appropriate test for you.  Please arrange a free 10 minute phone consultation with Catherine via our reception team first.  Catherine will discuss your particular health needs and concerns and ascertain whether an allergy test is appropriate.  It may be that a food elimination diet or other dietary recommendations are more appropriate and Catherine can support you with this too.

Once you have agreed with Catherine the most appropriate allergy test for you, she will arrange a test kit to be sent to you.  The results are usually received within about 2 weeks and these will be sent to Catherine to discuss with you at your first appointment.

It is vital that you have an appointment to discuss the results, as professional advise is essential before you eliminate any food groups from your diet to make sure you do this effectively and for the correct amount of time.  Catherine will also make recommendations on how to support your gut integrity so that over time you can reintroduce foods that you have an intolerance to.  She will also work with you to ensure you don’t become nutrient deficient due to excluding foods.

How much does a food allergy test cost?

Food Intolerance testing begins at £300, plus £90 for your consultation with Catherine Jeans.

Please note that supplements may be recommended to support your programme and these are additional.  They are not essential and will be discussed in full with you.
