Are We the Best Complementary Health Clinic in Norwich? PABS Will Decide!
Recently, we were nominated, and subsequently shortlisted for the Parent and Baby Show Awards. We have been shortlisted for the ‘best complementary health clinic’ in Norfolk, and we’re over the moon to say the least. So, if you’ve only recently discovered the Orange Grove, let us tell you a little more about who we are, why we started, and what we do here!
The Orange Grove Clinic opened its doors in 2011. Its aim? To support families and individuals through particular health journeys and life changes by providing affordable complementary health and wellness therapies and ongoing support for the people who needed it. What made the Orange Grove unique was its attention to its community. Both at the clinic and online, our desire is to offer holistic individual care and advice.
Over the years the Orange Grove has streamlined its offerings. Focusing on the essential core of massage, yoga, retreats and birthing services, while promoting self-care, mindfulness, movement, friendship and community. All essentials for good health and wellbeing.
Jackie Heffer-Cooker, Founder of the Orange Grove
Co-founder, and now solo owner and head of the Orange Grove Jackie Heffer-Cooke is a birth preparation expert, massage therapist and yoga teacher. She has spent 10 years specialising in hypnobirthing, pregnancy massage, baby yoga and pregnancy yoga! As such, the Orange Grove has always had an instinctive passion for supporting pregnant and new mothers through what can be one of the most exhilarating but confusing times in a woman’s life. Jackie is a passionate birth educator and activist and is the chair of the local Maternity Voice Partnership, a voluntary role where Jackie is able to focus on aspects of the birthing services within a proactive think-tank environment.
A former TV executive Jackie went through a challenging personal experience of adaptation to mothering and felt herself lost and anxious as a new mum. Without close family around her, Jackie experienced feelings of loneliness, and this has gone on to drive her working career. She has worked incessantly over the years to create community space for mums. Either through the Orange Grove, YogaBubs, YogaBumps and now through ZenMuma, her teacher training school which launched this year.
New Beginnings with ZenMuma
Through Jackie’s ZenMuma, Jackie can now teach other women to teach Hypnobirthing, Pregnancy Yoga, Baby Yoga and Children’s Yoga. ZenMuma’s aim is to support women to start careers which fit around their family and their life. These ZenMuma graduates will then go on to support pregnant mums and new mums through their own yoga/hypnobirthing classes for support through this transitional time in their life. Mothers Supporting Mothers. That’s what it’s all about!
As the end of the year draws near, we’re looking back on a busy year! Christmas for us is a time to pause, reflect, and enjoy some time off with our own families. To raise a glass to all our efforts over the year, all the more evident as we watch the joyful faces of our precious children as they open presents we have helped to buy with our hard graft, ideas and effort. It’s a time for us business owners to rest, to eat, to drink, to be merry and to say ‘well done me’. You are allowed to do that. So… to all you business owners and entrepreneurial women out there… well done! And cheers to 2019!
